The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate / Post­doc Posi­tion (working on Mole­cu­lar Model­ling and Simu­la­tion of Gly­co­sa­mi­no­gly­can-Pro­tein Inter­ac­tions)

The posi­tion is wit­hin the Col­la­bo­ra­tive Rese­arch Net­work SFB/Trans­re­gio 67 “Func­tio­nal Bio­ma­te­ri­als for Con­trol­ling Hea­ling Pro­ces­ses in Bone and Skin - From Mate­rial Sci­ence to Cli­ni­cal App­li­ca­tion”, and it will be avail­able as soon as pos­si­ble and limi­ted until 30.06.2021. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - Wiss­ZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.
The BIO­TEC is an inter­na­tio­nal and inter­di­sci­pli­nary insti­tute of the Cen­ter for Mole­cu­lar and Cel­lu­lar Bio­en­gi­nee­ring focu­sed on mole­cu­lar bio-engi­nee­ring, pro­teo­mics, geno­mics, bio­phy­sics, stem cells and com­pu­ta­tio­nal bio­logy. The TU Dres­den is one out of ele­ven Ger­man Uni­ver­si­ties of Excel­lence.

Work­ing field:

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will work on model­ling and simu­la­tion of gly­co­sa­mi­no­gly­can-pro­tein sys­tems in close col­la­bo­ra­tion with expe­ri­men­tal part­ners in the mul­ti­di­sci­pli­nary and highly col­la­bo­ra­tive envi­ron­ment of the sci­en­ti­fic Trans­re­gio net­work.


The can­di­date should have a uni­ver­sity degree and a Doc­to­ral (Ph.D.) degree in struc­tu­ral and com­pu­ta­tio­nal bio­logy/phy­sics/che­mis­try or a rela­ted sci­en­ti­fic disci­pline. The ideal qua­li­fied can­di­date should be highly moti­va­ted and inte­rested in working in the mul­ti­di­sci­pli­nary, inter­na­tio­nal and highly col­la­bo­ra­tive envi­ron­ment of the Trans­re­gio sci­en­ti­fic net­work. The can­di­date should be able to work inde­pendently and also to be a team player. Sui­ta­ble can­di­da­tes should have out­stan­ding inter­na­tio­nally reco­gni­zed sci­en­ti­fic accom­plish­ments in the area of com­pu­ta­tio­nal glyco-bio­logy and strong expe­ri­ence with docking metho­do­logy and mole­cu­lar dyna­mics simu­la­ti­ons of pro­te­ins and gly­co­sa­mi­no­gly­cans. Pro­fi­ci­ency with AMBER and excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills in Eng­lish will be requi­red.
